Community Groups

Life is hard. It was never meant to be lived in isolation. In fact, God has created us for community - to share our lives with one another and grow together - through the great times of life and the difficult times. Community with others is essential aspect of growing as followers of Jesus and growing in our love for others. At The Oaks, our community groups are the primary way in which we develop community with one another. Read below for more information about what a community group is and how you can join a group - - and consider becoming a part of a community group today!

What is a community group?
A Sunday service is too large and too brief to develop close relationships and community with others. Our community groups are smaller groups of people, from all walks of life, who gather weekly to share life with one another and encourage each other to grow in their understanding of the gospel. Community groups meet throughout Middletown and the surrounding communities on various nights of the week. There is a good chance that a community group meets near you!

What should I expect at community group?
Every group is a little bit different, but each week you can expect to see friends, catch up on life, eat, laugh, and sometimes you might even cry. There is also a time to discuss the previous Sunday’s sermon and how those gospel truths apply to our lives. Community group is a safe and encouraging place to be honest about what is going in your life. Every community group also spends a week each month serving Middletown together in conjunction with Renew.

How do I join a community group?
All of our community groups welcome new people to join in! Check out the map below for a community group that meets near you at a time of the week that works for you. Send an e-mail indicating you’re interested in checking out the group, and a group leader will be in touch with you. If you have any questions, you can e-mail communitygroups@theoakscommunitychurch.org .
